I selected English as my major at Rutgers University because I was good at writing. My proficiency with stringing words together helped me during written exams at Seton Hall University School of law as well. As an attorney, I wrote persuasive briefs that produced favorable outcomes for clients. As a recruiter for over 25 years, I have consistently written compelling resumes and cover letters on behalf of my candidates. I am also a Certified Professional Resume Writer. But why might you care? Because my writing has been tried, tested, and yields results.
I have been recruiting since 1995 and working exclusively as a legal recruiter since 2005. I have worked with law firms of all sizes, prestige, and specialties, including Am Law 100, boutique, and mid-sized firms. I speak with hiring partners, recruiting managers, and attorney candidates daily and am knowledgeable about diverse practice areas. I have also placed legal marketing professionals.
Throughout my 25-plus years as a recruiter, I have written countless resumes and cover letters that secured interviews for job seekers. I estimate that only about 10% of the resumes I receive do not need improvement. Few might require minor tweaks, but many need an overhaul. By rewriting resumes, I have opened many career doors which would have otherwise remained closed.
I am a Certified Digital Career Strategist, which effectively means I completed a course and earned a certification in optimizing LinkedIn profiles so that my job-seeking clients can be found by the myriad of employers using this platform. Moreover, I have used a LinkedIn Recruiter subscription to search for candidates for several years. This access gives me a comprehensive perspective from both sides of the hiring process.
